soft thing is the critically acclaimed 2021 EP by soulful Toronto-based independent artist LOONY. To celebrate its third anniversary, Spirit of Analog is proud to present soft thing’s first cassette release, in collaboration with LOONY and 444% Inc. This limited edition release of 100 copies is available in three unique variants, and is on sale now – three years to the date of its initial release.
Each cassette includes a 4-panel j-card with the album’s artwork, lyrics, and liner notes, plus a special bonus insert containing a reflective message directly from LOONY with the “be cool” artwork on the reverse side, exclusive to this anniversary edition. The audio has been carefully mastered and duplicated using premium SM911 Recording The Masters tape.
Additionally, we’re thrilled to be offering a limited bundle featuring the last available copies of soft thing’s first blue vinyl pressing, signed by LOONY to commemorate the last of her first run of physical music goods.
Released on June 24, 2021, soft thing solidified LOONY’s place in the contemporary R&B and neo-soul scene, earning a spot on the 2022 Polaris Prize Longlist. With a sound that blends emotive lyricism, lush melodies, and raw vulnerability, LOONY has captivated audiences and critics alike. Among her admirers is Elton John, who has featured her tracks numerous times on his Rocket Hour Apple Music Show. She continues to make waves in the industry following the release of her debut self-titled LP earlier this year and her successful North American headline tour.
